Energy Costs
Dynamic Energy Tariff
A dynamic energy tariff follows market prices (EPEX Spot), where prices evolve hourly and vary daily.
At certain times of the day, prices are lower than at others. By setting the control mode to Minimize Costs, connected devices can be managed to optimize consumption based on cost efficiency.
Energy prices serve as the foundation for all cost optimization efforts (control mode: Minimize Costs). To ensure proper functionality, it is essential to enter the price parameters accurately.
In most cases, the formula used to determine the electricity price for consumption is as follows:
eSpot (€/kWh) × EPEX Spot Consumption Scaling Factor + Energy Consumption Price (€/kWh) + Network Consumption Costs (€/kWh)Where:
- eSpot: The hourly rate on the Day-Ahead EPEX SPOT Belgium market, expressed in €/kWh.
- Scaling Factor and Energy Price (surcharge): These depend on the specific energy contract.
- Network Consumption Costs: These are determined by the distribution network operator (DNO) and vary by region.
